Welcome to Hays 4H Shooting Sports

 whole group

The focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. The National 4-H Shooting Sports Program stands out as an example. Youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and much more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.

Hello Shooter!
Well be prepared for a lot of updates. I am so sorry that I have been lazy in my posting, but it is hunting season and I hope you guys will understand. So it is goes!

John Moerke has been shooting so well lately that I wanted to send out a big congrats to John!

John won a $ 500 college scholarship at the Association of College Unions International's (ACUI) Lower Midwest International Conference Championships held at the San Antonio Gun Club this past weekend.

While the main competitors for the event were college and university shooting teams, they allowed high school juniors and seniors to sign up for international skeet and trap competitions. One of the "special" events for competing high school juniors and seniors was a "scholarship" shoot in international or "bunker" trap. John took first place in the "one miss and out" competition by running the first 5 stations.

If any of the Hays Shooting Sports Club shooters are interested in learning more about the ACUI's Clay Target program and possibly competing, they should go to ACUI website at:

They will need to join ACUI, which is open to high school juniors and seniors (and is free), in order to sign up for a future ACUI competitions.
